The Canoe Trip
The Canoe Trip is a hand carved and hand printed linocut print of a man and his dog in a canoe paddling down the river. Made with black ink on natural colored Japanese printmaking paper. Paper is about 20 x 16 inches, printed area is about 16 x 12 inches. Limited edition of 50 with paper color variations available. Numbered, titled and signed in pencil below the printed area. Since this linocut relief print is handmade each print edition will be slightly different and unique.
Additional details: The Canoe Trip linocut is hand printed with professional quality black oil-based relief ink. It is printed on beige/natural color gampi fiber, handmade Japanese paper and features four natural deckled edges.
How a linocut is made: A linocut or linoleum print is a type of relief print where the image is carved with knives into a sheet of linoleum. The lino matrix is then rolled with relief ink and printed on paper, either by hand with a baron or on a printing press. The areas that are carved away will remain the paper color. The uncarved areas will transfer the ink to the paper. These prints can also be called block prints, and they are similar to woodcut prints.
Shipping information: Prints are carefully rolled between sheets of acid free tissue paper, then rolled again with kraft paper for extra protection, placed in waterproof bags and mailed in sturdy shipping tubes. No additional charge for domestic (USA) shipping through USPS Priority Mail with tracking included.
